.Amortizoarele sunt o componenta a sistemului de suspensie. Exista amortizoare pe gaz sau pe ulei, si chiar unele hidraulice reglabile. Un amortizor este format dintr-un cilindru si un piston. In cilindru este o camera de presiune cu diverse supape, care fac pistonul sa aiba un anumit joc, in functie de tipul amortizorului: sport, normal, reglabil, etc. Amortizoarele se schimba in general in pereche, ambele de pe o punte, sau toate 4 de preferat, atunci cand au pierderi de lichid.
