.Axa cu came este o piesa metalica dintr-o bucata, foarte rezistenta la uzura, care are forma unui ax normal cu mai multi lobi metalici de-a lungul ei. Axa cu came are ca scop deschiderea valvelor de la cilindru, in functie de fiecare motor, astfel incat sa se faca succesiunea de aprindere / evacuare corect. Exista si motoare cu 2 axe cu came sau mai multe, in functie de tipul fiecaruia. Insa cel mai comun motor are o singura axa cu came, care de obicei nu trebuie inlocuita niciodata.
