.Pistoanele sunt piesele care pun in miscare masina. Un motor normal are 4 cilindri, adica 4 pistoane. Pistoanele sunt realizate din otel sau aluminiu, iar cele performante sunt forjate, nu turnate. Acestea intra in cilindrii motorului si se etanseizeaza de peretii blocului motor prin intermediul segmentilor. Pistoanele sunt puse in miscare de arderea amestecului de carburant cu aer si transmit miscarea prin biele, vibrochenului, care duce mai departe miscarea la volanta si la cutia de viteze.
