.Ventilatorul de racire poate fi de mai multe feluri: electric, mecanic sau actionat prin vasco-cuplaj. Cele mai intalnite sunt ventilatoarele electrice, care pornesc automat cand li se indica de catre termocupla sau alti senzori. Ventilatorele mecanice merg continuu, asa cum avea batrana Dacie. Masini precum BMW sau Jeep au ventilatoare actionate prin vasco-cuplaj, un fel de ambreiaj care se activeaza cand e prea cald motorul.
